Speech and Language Therapist

Speech and Language Therapist – Somerset; West Hatch TA3 5RH and Hambridge TA10 0BG

Up To £44,000 Dependant on Experience | Full Time or Part Time hours available

Purpose of Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic HCPC Qualified Speech and Language Therapist to join us at Somerset Progressive School. The successful Speech and Language Therapist will play a key role in the provision of high-quality services for pupils with complex special educational needs and disabilities. Due to the nature of our students, our two sites in Somerset are smaller giving students more space to build on their educational and personal needs with us here at Keys Group. Due to the requirements of this role, we are thrilled to announce we are seeking someone on either a full-time or part-time basis for flexibility here at Keys Group.

As a part of our wider Clinical Team, you will have access to a wide range of professionals to support you within your probationary period from our in-house Clinical Team and Senior Leadership Team within the School. The wider team entails a Support Service Manager, Principal Educational Psychologist, Senior Educational Psychologist, Headteacher, and a Deputy Headteachers.

Somerset Progressive School prides itself on being very unique. Both sites are set in rural locations on the outskirts of Taunton.  Each site offers an attractive and stimulating learning environment, combining specialised teaching facilities with local resources. 

There is a high staff to pupil ratio with most receiving 1:1 tuition or working in small groups.  Pupils are encouraged to work alongside others and co-operatively in pairs and small groups, as the development of social skills and independent work strategies are vital.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provide direct assessment
  • Intervention and consultation
  • Play a key role in the provision of high-quality services for pupils with complex special educational needs and disabilities
  • Work with the support of other professionals within our Clinical Team in this varied and rewarding role

Requirements: 

  • A HCPC registration (requirement) 
  • Have an interest in attachment and developmental trauma
  • Post qualification experience of SEN education
  • Familiarity with a variety of SALT assessments tools and interventions, appropriate to the needs of children and young people with complex needs.
  • Passionate champions of students with SEND
  • Have a full-UK Driving License and access to a vehicle
