Deputy National Lead Nurse
Salary: £55,000 - £60,000
Car Allowance: £3,600 P/A
Location: Homebase, with ad hoc national travel as required
Working as part of the Keys Group Adult Clinical Services Team the postholder will provide direct and indirect Mental Health Nursing and Safeguarding input for adults placed within our learning disability, mental health and Acquired Brain Injury services and post Incident Support to the workforce. Working closely with the National lead Nurse for Safeguarding and the National Clinical Director (Adults) the postholder will undertake a wide range of duties, including the delivery of specialist training across the Adult Services.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide specialist mental health nursing and safeguarding leadership across Adult Services, acting as Deputy Lead Nurse as required.
- Advise on the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, DoLS, and Best Interest decision-making, ensuring NICE-compliant practice.
- Chair Pre-Admission Meetings and Complex Case Panels.
- Lead or contribute to safeguarding rapid reviews, mortality reviews, and serious incident investigations.
- Represent safeguarding at internal committees and senior/regional leadership meetings.
- Work collaboratively with external agencies, Local Authorities, NHS services, and Keys Group colleagues.
- Deliver person-centred, trauma-informed care and effective communication with service users, families, and professionals.
- Ensure robust risk management, regulatory compliance (CQC/CIW), accurate record-keeping, reporting, and oversight of RADAR referrals.
- Provide safeguarding and clinical training, consultation, and supervision to staff and students.
- Contribute to policy development, service improvement, research, supervision, appraisal, and ongoing professional development in line with NMC, RCN, and EPIC values.
About you
- Essential: NMC Registered Nurse RMN/RNLD
- Essential: Level 3 Safeguarding with a willingness to complete level 5
- Essential: Significant experience in a range of Acute in-patient and community mental health and care settings.
- Essential: Experienced in carrying out safeguarding investigations and serious incident investigations
- Essential: Experience in delivering clinical training
- Essential: Knowledge of: Mental Capacity Act, Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults, Risk Management, social care workforce, Medication and potential side effects.
- Essential: Full clean driving license and access to my own car.
- Desirable: Leadership and Management Qualifications
