Youth Activity Worker - Newcastle-Under-Lyme

🏞Residential Activity Worker – Passion for Outdoors & Youth Support

📍 Location: Based in Maer, Staffordshire, ST5

💼 Company: Keys Group

💷 Salary:  £26,566.80 - £27,783.60 annually (£13.10 – £13.70 per hour)

Additional Earnings: 9 sleep-ins per month (£62.64 per sleep)

🕒 Shift Pattern: Full-time, Permanent – 4 consecutive working days (including overnights), followed by 8 days off. As part of this role, you will be required to reside at the activity centre during your four working days to ensure consistent support for the children. This position requires you to reside at the activities centre overnight during your four working days in order to provide consistent support to the children. Accommodation and meals will be provided to you throughout your stay.

🚗 Requirements: Age 21+, Full UK Driving Licence required due to rural location, Right to Work in the UK

This role is ideal for those who thrive in nature, believe in structure and support, and want to make a real impact. Through outdoor activities like kayaking, rock climbing, hiking, and bushcraft, you’ll help young people rebuild trust, develop confidence, and grow into their full potential.

🔹 About the Role:

As a Residential Activity Worker, you’ll provide day-to-day care in a stable, therapeutic environment while leading outdoor adventures that build life skills and emotional resilience.

🔑 Key Responsibilities:

Support young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs in a residential setting

Lead and participate in outdoor activities such as hiking, canoeing, mountain biking, and team challenges

Build trust and provide consistent care, emotional support, and boundaries

Promote independence, self-esteem, and personal development

Work closely with therapists, teachers, and care staff as part of a multidisciplinary team

 What We’re Looking For:

Passion for working with children and young people

Interest in outdoor and adventure-based learning

Patience, emotional resilience, and a calm, supportive approach

Ability to build rapport and manage behaviour positively

Flexibility to work shifts including evenings and weekends

Must be 21 or over, hold a full UK Driving Licence, and have the right to work in the UK
