Keys Group is launching an innovative accredited Online School designed to support children and young people for whom attending a physical school is not possible. Combining academic excellence with trauma-informed, flexible online learning, this new provision will set a benchmark for inclusive, accessible education.
We are seeking an experienced, visionary and values-driven Headteacher to establish and lead this pioneering school. This is a unique opportunity to shape the school’s strategy, culture and educational approach from the ground up, ensuring exceptional outcomes for pupils with complex needs.
The Role
Reporting to the Director of Education Services, the Headteacher will provide strategic and operational leadership to develop and grow this innovative online provision.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing strategic leadership and day-to-day operational management of the Online School
Establishing a strong, inclusive and trauma-informed school culture
Ensuring high-quality teaching, learning, curriculum and assessment across the provision
Leading safeguarding, SEND provision and pupil wellbeing to the highest standards
Ensuring full compliance with regulatory, inspection and accreditation requirements
Developing strong partnerships with families, professionals and key stakeholders
Building effective working relationships with Local Authorities and colleagues across Keys Group
This role is primarily remote, with national travel required for meetings, including regular visits to our Birmingham and Ipswich offices.
Essential Criteria
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
NPQH or equivalent senior leadership qualification
Significant senior leadership experience within a school, special school, alternative provision or online setting
Strong knowledge of safeguarding, regulatory and inspection frameworks
Demonstrable commitment to inclusive, ethical and trauma-informed practice
Experience of online education, digital learning environments, or school start-up/development
Knowledge and understanding of SEND and therapeutic approaches
