Working Pattern:  
Home based with travel to services within your region.
Regional Locations: 
Shrewsbury (or areas nearby), to cover services including North Wales and the borders

About the role:
We’ve launched a new clinical provision within our Activity and Intervention (A&I) services: specialist 90‑day programmes combining outdoor adventure, education, and targeted therapeutic support to help young people build confidence and prepare for community living.

We’re looking for enthusiastic Assistant Psychologists to join our Clinical Team, supporting qualified clinicians to embed trauma‑informed practice across homes in your region using our Keys Connect model. With a strong focus on CPD and research, this role offers a great opportunity to develop your skills while contributing to high‑quality care for children and teams.

About you 
You will work collaboratively with operational and clinical colleagues across Keys Group to embed high‑quality therapeutic practice within our Children’s Residential Services. The Assistant Psychologist role also offers core development opportunities aligned with the British Psychological Society Standards (June 2024).
 

  • Developing reflective practice skills

  • Understanding risk assessment and management 
  • Developing communication skills 
  • Developing knowledge of psychological formulation, assessment, intervention and evaluation 
  • Developing research knowledge and skills 
  • Understanding key principles of equality, diversity and inclusion on a practice and knowledge level 
     

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the assessment and therapeutic care of children and young people, delivering psychological interventions under supervision and promoting the Keys Connect model.
  • To support with the collection and interpretation of psychometric assessments or outcome measures where appropriate. 
  • Contribute to service development, multidisciplinary working, and effective communication with partner agencies.
  • Engage in regular clinical supervision, team meetings, and ongoing professional development.
  • Apply evidence‑based practice, support research activity where appropriate, and produce required reports and records.
  • Work within professional, ethical, safeguarding, equality, and organisational policies, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Complete administrative and undertake other reasonable duties appropriate to the role.
  • To undertake travelling requirements in order to fulfil the tasks and responsibilities of the role.This will include travel to rural locations.
     

What you’ll need 

  • Degree in Psychology or equivalent/related field. 
  • Driving licence and access to a vehicle  
  • Experience of working with multidisciplinary teams.  
  • Experience using IT systems and recording information appropriately. 
  • Experience of working with care experienced children including working with teams around the child.

 

Due to the nature of the role, it is necessary for the appropriate level of criminal record disclosure to be undertaken (DBS).
