Wake Night Support Worker

Job Title: Passionate Waking Night Children's Residential Support Worker 

Job Location: Southampton

Hours: Full-time (39 hours)

Salary: £13.00 - £13.70

Responsibilities and Duties 

As part of the Night Waking position, you will be required to monitor our young people throughout the night and support them with personal care where required. Domestic duties such as cleaning and laundry is also a key aspect of the role. The role can be quite challenging at times as the young people find managing their emotions difficult. We extensively train all of our team to support them during these times. What we strive for, as a team, is looking at proactive ways to reduce these challenges and to give each individual bespoke strategies to regulate their emotions more effectively, and more independently. 

Qualifications and Skills 

Whilst a qualification in Children's Workforce QCF Level 3/4 Diploma is desirable, no experience is required as you will be supported and trained to learn how to support the children and young people that reside with us. There are comprehensive training programmes that you are paid to attend which will give you the tools to provide the best possible support to the young people that we support and car for.

Requirements: 

  • Be part of a caring team that provides a safe and loving home for children and young people, led and supported by a registered manager.

  • Knowledge of child development and trauma-informed care practices. 

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.  

  • Previous experience in a residential care setting or similar environment (Preferred)

  • Lead activities that fuel growth. 

  • Monitor progress and well-being, reporting any concerns promptly. 

  • Maintain safety and cleanliness standards at all times. 

  • Act as a positive role model to give encouragement and praise. 

  • Enjoy fun days out such as swimming, go karting, skating and revisit missed milestones. 

  • Provide emotional and physical support to allow the children to reach their full potential in sometimes challenging situations 

  • Build friendships and trusting relationships 

  • Help them to find pleasure in everyday tasks 

  • Empower them to make decisions about themselves
