SEN Education Mentor (QTS Essential)

Ready to step away from the classroom and use your SEN expertise where it truly matters?
We provide high-quality, personalised 1:1 education for young people aged 5-16 who are unable to access mainstream education. Many of the learners we support have Special Educational Needs (SEN), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism (ASD), ADHD, anxiety, trauma-related barriers, or complex educational experiences.
Our mission is simple: to create measurable, life-changing outcomes for vulnerable young people through tailored education, trust, and meaningful relationships.
As an Education Mentor, you'll work closely with young people who require an individualised approach to education. Delivering tailored sessions in English, Maths and life skills, you'll have the time, flexibility and autonomy to adapt learning around each young person's unique needs, strengths and aspirations.
Without the pressures of a classroom environment, you'll be able to focus on what matters most: building trust, improving engagement, developing confidence and helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
We're Looking For
- Qualified Teachers with QTS (Essential)
- Teachers with experience supporting learners with SEN, SEMH, ASD, ADHD and additional needs
- Professionals who can build strong, positive relationships with vulnerable young people
- Educators seeking a rewarding alternative to mainstream classroom teaching
You'll Need
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - Essential
- Strong knowledge of the UK curriculum
- Significant experience supporting learners with SEN and additional needs
- Excellent differentiation and adaptive teaching skills
- Understanding of ASD, ADHD, SEMH and mental health needs
- Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
- A patient, resilient and nurturing approach
- Minimum two days' availability per week
- Ability to travel (full UK driving licence, own vehicle with business insurance and breakdown cover)
- First Aid qualification (desirable)

About the Role
- Deliver personalised 1:1 educational support tailored to individual needs

- Plan and adapt learning around EHCP targets, learning gaps and individual outcomes
- Support academic progress, confidence, emotional wellbeing and life skills development
- Term-time only
- Employed on a Zero Hour Contract
- Flexible scheduling around your availability
- Travel required across local authorities

- Living with SEN and complex additional needs
- Excluded or at risk of exclusion
- School refusers or experiencing emotionally based school avoidance
- Unable to access education due to health or home circumstances
- At risk of entering the criminal justice system
- In need of bespoke educational and emotional support

Pay
The pay rate is between £25 - £40 per hour, determined individually on a case-by-case basis, taking into account relevant qualifications, SEN experience and specialist expertise.
