Residential Support Worker- Waking Night - Southampton
Package Description
We are really keen to hear from Night Support Workers, ideally with experience of working with young people with learning disabilities and/or autism (although this isn’t essential as full training and support will be given), to work in our Good, Ofsted rated home. We support the young people in their home in the Woolston area of Southampton. This location is ideal for drivers and those that use public transport, with great transport links within easy walking distance of the home (bus, train and cycle routes).
You will be required to complete a QCF Level 4 in Children, Young People and Families Practitioner Qualification within this role. You will supported fully by an assessor and your manager to complete this.
You will be joining a National Children's Services Provider with a really supportive and inclusive team, and good career progression opportunities. We pride ourselves that our home offers person-centred support to the individuals that access our services. Comments from our most recent inspection include “Staff provide highly valued individualised care and support to the children. Dedicated staff help harness and build on the children’s strengths.”
We provide bespoke training for each team member according to the needs of the young people you will support. All of our Southampton homes are individualised residential homes, rated by Ofsted to be Outstanding or Good.
Responsibilities and Duties
As part of the Night Waking position, you will be required to monitor our young people throughout the night and support them with personal care where required. Domestic duties such as cleaning and laundry is also a key aspect of the role. The role can be quite challenging at times as the young people find managing their emotions difficult. We extensively train all of our team to support them during these times. What we strive for, as a team, is looking at proactive ways to reduce these challenges and to give each individual bespoke strategies to regulate their emotions more effectively, and more independently.
Qualifications and Skills
Whilst a qualification in Children's Workforce QCF Level 3/4 Diploma is desirable, no experience is required as you will be supported and trained to learn how to support the children and young people that reside with us. There are comprehensive training programmes that you are paid to attend which will give you the tools to provide the best possible support to the young people that we support and car for.
