Purpose of the Role
Provide personalised support to students with SEN, helping them thrive both academically and emotionally.
You’ll work closely with teachers to create a calm, inclusive environment that fosters student wellbeing, confidence, and independence, while also supporting their emotional and social development
About Robin's Nest
We are a small independent school which supports KS2 and KS3 students that may have previously experienced difficulties accessing in their education.
We are committed to ensuring that all students learn and are engaged in the appropriate programme of study, which allows them to successfully re-engage with education and to achieve their very best outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Mentor and support learners in the classroom, on home tuition, outreach, and through outdoor activities.
- Assist with preparing learning materials and help deliver curriculum goals, focusing on behavioural management.
- Provide daily progress reports, identifying barriers to learning.
- Use trauma-informed practices to support students' emotional needs, ensuring they feel safe and supported.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external agencies to create a holistic approach to student development.
- Foster positive relationships with students, working within an SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) environment.
- Provide pastoral care to address students' emotional, social, and academic needs, promoting respect and inclusion.
- Implement behaviour management strategies to positively influence student behaviour and learning outcomes.
Requirements
- Experience supporting pupils in an educational or care setting.
- Experience working with pupils with SEND and complex needs.
- Awareness of safeguarding, behaviour management, and SEND principles.
- Ability to support teaching and learning effectively under supervision
- Patience, empathy, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
