The Role of IT Software Trainer
The IT Application Support Team deliver training across company-wide IT systems. This includes both training for established software applications and also training to support the roll out of new software applications. As IT Software Trainer you will be expected to design and then deliver training courses and programmes to colleagues using both face to face delivery and also remotely via webinar, as required. You will also provide in-person assistance to newly trained employees where needed, as well as creating user guides and videos.
The role location is hybrid and will include UK travel. Travel may be more extensive and weekly during major project rollouts, necessitating overnight stays, but minimal in between projects. Our offices are in Halesowen, Birmingham and you will be expected to attend there as required.
For internal candidates this could be considered as a secondment or part of a current role.
Principal Responsibilities
Conduct IT skills gap analyses as required
Design user guides using simple language
Conduct role-specific training on applications and tools that teams use on a regular basis
Conduct project-specific training for new software roll outs
Apply educational methods to engage trainees
Train new employees, in small groups or individually, on proper use of Company applications and tools.
Evaluate the effectiveness of each educational session and implement any lessons learned
Maintain updated records of training curriculum and materials
Essential Criteria
Familiarity with web-based learning platforms and modern educational techniques
Proven work experience as an IT Software Trainer or similar role
Experience providing effective and professional induction training to new colleagues across standard and customised applications.
Able to support the delivery of rollouts for new or updated software or systems.
Ability to deliver upskilling programmes with the aim of raising skill levels across the company
Ability to provide clear and unambiguous advice on complex and contentious issues that arise during training, exercising judgement and analytical skills
As needed perform administrative tasks such as dealing with requests for support and training, scheduling, dealing with course bookings and requests, updating training attendance records and maintaining the LMS.
Confident liaising with staff at all levels
Have strong administrative skills paying attention to detail.
Demonstrate strong time management skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
Excellent customer service
