Grounds & Property Maintenance

Salary: From £27,976
Contract: Full Time Reports to: Service Manager
About the Role:
We’re looking for an experienced and proactive Grounds & Property Maintenance operative to support a wide-range of maintenance tasks around Honeybrook House which offers both Education and Residential services. This role offers a unique opportunity to make an impact on service delivery for vulnerable children providing them with the opportunity learn in a well-maintained safe environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the upkeep, maintenance, and presentation of the school site and its extensive grounds, including mature trees, hedgerows, landscaped lawns, pathways, and external areas, ensuring they remain safe, well-maintained, and compliant.
- Carry out and maintain accurate records of statutory and routine compliance checks, including fire alarm testing, emergency lighting inspections, playground equipment checks, and Legionella control measures.
- Undertake a wide range of maintenance tasks as directed by the Head Teacher, contributing to the effective upkeep of the premises. Duties may include carpentry, plumbing, decorating, and general repairs.
- Develop, implement, and manage a rolling programme of decoration and refurbishment works, scheduling projects to be completed during school holiday periods wherever possible.
- Coordinate and supervise contractors undertaking repair, maintenance, and improvement works on site, ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements and monitoring the quality of workmanship.
- Ensure safe access to the premises at all times by maintaining pathways, entrances, and external areas, including the removal of leaves and moss, gritting during icy conditions, and snow clearance during periods of severe weather.
- Support the overall operation of the school by carrying out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Head Teacher or Estates Team.
