Are you passionate about supporting vulnerable young people to build safer, more positive futures?
We are seeking Future Focused Mentors to deliver targeted interventions that support engagement, wellbeing, and re-entry into education.
As a Future Focused Mentor, you’ll work with young people who may be at risk of exploitation, criminal involvement, school disengagement, or unsafe relationships. You’ll use creative and compassionate approaches to help them build resilience, confidence, and safer life choices.
The Role
- Support young people in building self-esteem, confidence, and resilience
- Deliver engaging 1:1 interventions in community and educational settings
- Deliver sessions on topics such as healthy relationships, online safety, and county lines awareness
- Use creative and tailored approaches to help young people manage risks and make positive decisions
- Build strong, trusting relationships with young people and families
- Promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour
- Maintain accurate records and produce detailed professional reports
- Support pathways that enable young people to re-engage with education
- Uphold safeguarding policies and ensure all work is compliant with current legislation
Working Pattern:
Self-employed role with a minimum commitment of 2 days per week
Potential to work up to 5 days per week depending on case availability
Term-time only
Requirements
- GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent)
- Experience working with vulnerable children and young people, particularly those at risk of exploitation or involved in the criminal justice system
- Strong safeguarding knowledge and understanding of procedures
Key Skills and Attributes
- Resilient, calm, and professional under pressure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of SEND, trauma-informed practice, and positive behaviour strategies
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work independently
Additional Requirements
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (with business insurance)
- Willingness and flexibility to travel across Cambridge.
