Job Title: Estates Supervisor
Location: Wiltshire/Hampshire areas
Salary: Up to £33,700 per year depending on experience plus a car allowance of £3,600 PA
We are looking for an experienced Estates supervisor to join us on a full time employed basis helping support and maintain our growing portfolio of Care Homes including Schools, Children’s Residential Homes and Adults Residential Homes in your area.
The primary function of the role will be to supervise and provide leadership and support to a team of Mobile Maintenance Operatives within a defined region, whilst closely monitoring performance, quality of work, etc.
The role will also include the project management of small to medium works contracts, providing expert technical advice and surveying services and to provide support to a diverse property portfolio, to ensure group wide compliance and continuity of service to support young vulnerable people & adults.
The role will be predominantly based in the South region, which will involve extensive travelling throughout this area (i.e. from Cornwall/Devon/Somerset, across to West Sussex/Surrey/Buckinghamshire), for which a car allowance and separate mileage allowance will be paid, plus the occasional need for further travelling either within or beyond the defined area/region, which may involve overnight stays. The role will be field based, which includes working from home.
You will be working alongside a friendly and approachable team of people just like you, fully supported by the Estates Manager and Senior Estates Manager. On top of this, you will have links to local contractors to complete electrical jobs, gas jobs and large jobs outside the scope of your role. You will also be working closely with Home Managers and their senior staff to help prioritise tasks and determine what is possible at the time within their home.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- To line manage a team of Mobile Maintenance Operatives, provide supervision, leadership and support, offer technical experience and advice, carry out formal supervisions, recruitment of new staff, address HR/Fleet issues, and to continually assess the quality of works and performance against agreed standards.
- To project manage small to medium works contracts within a specified region.
- To prepare specifications, schedules of work, sketch plans, simple working drawings, tender documentation, orders of work and budget management within the given delegation for approval of the Directors.
- To appoint and manage contractors, supervise work on-site, monitoring performance, standards and quality of works.
- To carry out regular quality audits of works completed, and address any deficiencies.
- To help maintain the Company’s approved list of contractors.
- To ensure that all works, services and plant comply with all the current legislation and regulations.
- Ensure Maintenance Records Books are reviewed and signed off according to group policy and action outstanding remedial works.
- Ensure that all Health Authority requirements, EHO requirements and Fire Officer’s requirements when passed from the Regional Managers, Directors and the Estates Director are dealt with within the target dates.
- To carry out inspections arising from day-to-day requests, complaints or queries by the company’s own staff and prepare reports or respond to letters as necessary.
- To review and assess capital expenditure requests in line with company policy.
- Provide support to the Head of Facilities/Facilities Manager in monitoring PPM compliance and other estates related issues.
- To undertake such other work as may be assigned which is consistent with the nature of the job and its level of responsibility.
- To maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job, participate in appropriate training activities and encourage and support staff in their development and training.
