Job Role: Registered Manager – EBD Children’s Home

Salary: up to £48,000

Bonuses: £5k Welcome Bonus + 21% Annual Bonus

Location: Ford, Shrewsbury

Role Overview:

Keys Group are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Children’s Home Manager to lead a 3-bed EBD children’s home in Shrewsbury. The ideal candidate will be an experienced manager with a passion for supporting young people with complex emotional and behavioral needs, and the ability to maintain high standards of care and therapeutic support.

About the Children’s Home:

Our 3-bed EBD home in Shrewsbury provides care for three young people aged between 15 and 17. These children have strong independence plans in place, with long-term placements that focus on developing self-sufficiency and strong relationships. The home has been maintaining a “Good” rating for three consecutive years and is progressing toward a more therapeutic approach. The children enjoy activities like football, interacting with animals (including birds and fish), and taking part in regular holidays and outings.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the operational management of the 3-bed children’s home, ensuring high-quality care and positive outcomes for young people.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to a dedicated team of care staff
  • Develop and implement individualized care and independence plans, ensuring each child receives the appropriate support.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the children, staff, and external partners, fostering a supportive and therapeutic environment.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and achieve high ratings from Ofsted (maintaining the “Good” rating).
  • Manage referrals, liaise with local authorities, and ensure effective communication with all stakeholders.
  • Service development, budget and financial performance of the home.
  • The protection, safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of our children and young people.
  • Oversee staff training and development to ensure continuous professional growth and a therapeutic approach to care.
  • You will be accountable for delivering high quality care within the home, ensuring the care and progress children make is outstanding.
  • You will be responsible for delivery of quality care services, as well as the strategic planning for developments within the home and all day to day management matters.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience working within a similar environment at a Senior level.
  • Level 3 or 4 in Children and Young Peoples workforce.
  • Achieved or working towards Level 5 Diploma in leadership for Health and Social Care services (Children and Young Peoples management qualification).
  • Strong knowledge of legislation and safeguarding procedures such as The Children Act 1989, Children's home regulations.
  • Experience of budgets and financial management.
  • Fully committed to achieving the best outcomes for children.
  • Full driving licence is essential.
  • Ability to work flexibly and carry out on-call duties.
