Assistant Headteacher 

Tees Valley College – Middlesbrough 

Full-Time – 40 hours per week – Permanent


We are seeking an exceptional Assistant Headteacher to lead, inspire, and drive excellence across our school.

This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a passionate educationalist who believes every child — including those with complex needs and SEND — deserves a high-quality, ambitious, and supportive education.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping curriculum design, enhancing teaching quality, and improving pupil outcomes while championing our EPIC values: Excellence, Passion, Integrity, and Caring

As part of the senior leadership team, you will:

  • Lead curriculum & teaching excellence
  • Drive pupil achievement 
  • Develop & empower staff 
  • Champion safeguarding and positive behaviour practices  

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teaching Status (QTS)
  • Have proven experience leading curriculum development and improving teaching quality 
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and the ability to motivate and coach staff 
  • Have a deep understanding of curriculum design, assessment and evidence-informed practice
  • Be committed to safeguarding and professional conduct 
  • Resilient, empathetic and passionate about improving pupil outcome
  • Experience in special education or SEND leadership
